StoragePrices ("we", "us", "our") operates storageprices.au, a self-storage price comparison service for Australian consumers. This policy explains how we handle your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information we collect

We collect the following personal information when you use our service:

• Email address — to deliver your price comparison results and, if you opt in, price drop alerts.
• Suburb, postcode, or street address — to find storage facilities near you. We do not store full street addresses after your comparison is delivered.
• Approximate location (latitude/longitude) — derived from the address you enter, used to calculate distances to nearby facilities.

We do not collect financial information, government identifiers, or sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act.

2. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

• Generate and deliver your storage price comparison via email.
• Send price drop alerts if you opt in to this feature.
• Improve our service (aggregated, de-identified usage data only).

We will not use your email address for marketing purposes beyond the services you have explicitly requested.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share limited data with the following service providers who help us operate:

• Resend (email delivery) — receives your email address to deliver comparison results and alerts.
• Railway (hosting) — our application infrastructure provider.
• Sentry (error monitoring) — may receive technical error data; we have disabled personally identifiable information in error reports.
• Google (analytics & address lookup) — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used, and the Google Places API to help you find your suburb. Google may set cookies on your browser. See Google's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts (typography) — fonts are loaded from Google servers. Google may log your IP address. See Google Fonts privacy info.

All service providers are bound by their own privacy obligations. We do not share your information with any storage provider listed in your comparison results.

4. Storage and security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted in Australia. We protect your information with:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.
• Access controls limiting database access to authorised systems only.
• Hashed verification codes (never stored in plain text).

5. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Unsubscribe from price drop alerts at any time using the link in any alert email.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use essential browser storage (localStorage) to remember your session state. We use Google Analytics (GA4) which may set first-party cookies to distinguish users and sessions. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

7. Data retention

We retain your comparison results for up to 90 days to allow you to revisit your results page. Price drop watch subscriptions expire after the period shown when you subscribe (typically 90 days). You can request earlier deletion by contacting us.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
